Vetkoek

Vetkoek is a popular South African dish that is essentially deep-fried dough bread. Here's a simple vetkoek recipe:

Ingredients:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour - 1 packet (10g) instant yeast - 2 tablespoons sugar - 1 teaspoon salt - 2 cups lukewarm water - Cooking oil for frying

Instructions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. 2. Gradually add lukewarm water to the dry ingredients while mixing. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic. 3. Cover the dough with a clean cloth and allow it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size. 4. Once the dough has risen, divide it into smaller, golf ball-sized portions and shape them into round balls. 5. Heat enough cooking oil in a deep pan or pot for deep frying. 6. Carefully drop the dough balls into the hot oil and fry them until golden brown and cooked through. You may need to turn them to ensure even cooking. 7. Remove the vetkoek from the oil and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil. At this point, your vetkoek is ready! You can serve them warm with various fillings, such as minced meat, cheese, jam, or any other savory or sweet fillings of your choice. Enjoy!
