Swedish Meatballs

Here's a simple recipe for Swedish meatballs:

Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef - ½ lb (225g) ground pork - ½ cup breadcrumbs - ½ cup milk - 1 small onion, finely chopped - 2 cloves of garlic, minced - 1 egg - 1 tsp salt - ½ tsp black pepper - ½ tsp ground allspice - ¼ tsp ground nutmeg - 2 tbsp butter - 3 cups beef or vegetable broth - ½ cup heavy cream - 2 tbsp all-purpose flour - Fresh parsley for garnish (optional) Instructions: 1. In a small bowl, soak the breadcrumbs in milk for a few minutes until fully absorbed. 2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, soaked breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, allspice, and nutmeg. Mix well until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined. 3. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. 4. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the cooked meatballs from the skillet and set them aside. 5. In the same skillet, sprinkle the flour and whisk it together with the remaining butter. Cook for a minute or two until lightly golden. 6. Gradually pour in the broth and whisk continuously until the mixture thickens into a gravy-like consistency. 7. Add the heavy cream to the skillet and continue to stir until well combined with the gravy. 8. Return the meatballs to the skillet, coating them with the gravy. Allow them to simmer for about 10-15 minutes or until they are fully cooked through. 9. Serve the Swedish meatballs hot with your choice of sides like mashed potatoes, lingonberry sauce, or lingonberry jam. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Enjoy your homemade Swedish meatballs!
