Chicken a la King

Chicken a la King:



Ingredients:

- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cooked and shredded

- 1/4 cup butter

- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

- 1 cup chicken broth

- 1 cup milk

- 1/2 tsp salt

- 1/4 tsp black pepper

- 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper

- 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper

- 1/2 cup diced onion

- 1 cup frozen peas

- 1/2 cup heavy cream

- Steamed rice or toast


Instructions:

1. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

2. Add in flour and stir to create a roux. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.

3. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth and milk. Continue cooking until the mixture begins to thicken.

4. Add the salt, black pepper, green and red bell peppers, and onions to the sauce.

5. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes.

6. Add in the shredded chicken and frozen peas.

7. Stir in the heavy cream.

8. Cook for an additional 5-10 minutes until the sauce has thickened and everything is heated through.

9. Serve over steamed rice or toast. Enjoy your homemade Chicken a la King!
